The brief

Piranha AV, a long-established audio-visual specialist, approached TRCREATIVE for a complete rebrand. The company had changed ownership, with Andy and Bev Noble taking the reins after many years as employees, and with that came a new vision, set of values and purpose. While the original brand, Piranha, AV with more bite, reflected its founding chapter, the new leadership wanted to evolve the identity into something softer, more adaptable and inclusive of the diverse communities they serve: the public sector, education, churches, visitor attractions and corporates.

The challenge

The existing brand no longer represented Piranha AV’s heart or ambitions. Its ‘with more bite’ positioning leaned heavily on aggression and edge, which jarred with the current owners’ focus on nurturing relationships, empowering communities, and serving faith-based organisations. Piranha AV needed a unifying identity system that could flex across multiple sectors while articulating their new purpose and values. They needed a modern digital presence that reflected their expertise while feeling approachable and supportive.

We began with in-depth brand strategy workshops to uncover the essence of Piranha AV, exploring values, purpose, mission, and long-term vision. From this, we defined their new brand purpose:

‘Empowering you with cutting-edge AV that connects, protects and inspires.’

We then crafted a full brand identity system, including:

  • a new strapline and refined messaging framework
  • a modernised logo inspired by sound, energy and motion, abstracted into a fish form to nod to the original name
  • a sector-based colour system, giving each audience its own voice: Beacon (Public Sector), Blossom (Education), Divine (Churches), Lush (Visitor Attractions), and Skyline (Corporate)
  • clear brand values centred on empowerment, simplicity, innovation, dependability, and relationships
  • a fresh website design and build that modernises the user experience, showcasing case studies, services, and sector expertise.

The solution

The result is a flexible and future-proof brand identity that softens the aggressive tone of the old identity, replacing it with a human-centred, empowering voice. The new strapline shifts focus from ‘bite’ to ‘connection’,  highlighting Piranha AV’s commitment to enabling others through intuitive technology. The bold new colour system gives clarity across all five sectors, while the visual identity feels both cutting-edge and approachable. The new website (piranhaav.co.uk) brings it all together in a modern, responsive design, positioning Piranha AV as a trusted, innovative partner.

The impact

The rebrand has repositioned Piranha AV in line with its current ownership and values, giving the team a confident platform to grow. Their brand now reflects the warmth and expertise they bring to churches, schools, corporates, visitor attractions and emergency services. The new identity system and website communicate their credibility and innovation, while remaining approachable, flexible and community-driven, empowering them to connect, protect and inspire the people they serve.
